K9 Fitness Mobile Dog Gym is a climate-controlled canine fitness service that brings state-of-the-art dog exercise directly to your home. We use professional slat mills specifically made for canines and customized exercise programs to provide safe, structured physical activity designed to promote your dog's physical and mental well-being.
We bring our climate-controlled mobile gym directly to your location. During each session, our K9 Fitness coach will work with your dog on our slat mill, providing a work-out customized to your dog's age, breed, fitness level, and individual needs. We monitor the dogs breathing and body language to ensure proper breaks and provide hydration when needed.
A slat mill is a non-motorized treadmill specifically designed for dogs. Unlike traditional motorized treadmills, a slat mill allows dogs to control their own pace, providing a natural running experience while building cardiovascular fitness, endurance, strength, and confidence. We only use Fire Paw professional grade slat mills. They feature an advanced shock-absorbing system to reduce stress on your dog's joints.
That's completely normal. Most dogs require an introductory session to become comfortable with the equipment. We use positive reinforcement and gradual progression to help dogs build confidence and enjoy the experience. Most dogs will become comfortable with the slat mill on the first visit, but all dogs are different and some may require a few sessions to get acclimated to it.
Safety is our highest priority. All exercise sessions are supervised by a trained K9 Fitness coach and are tailored to your dog's individual fitness level and ability. Dogs control their own pace on the slat mill, and sessions are adjusted based on their comfort and performance. Slat mills and common areas inside the gym are cleaned/disinfected using REScue veterinary grade disinfectant between each session for your dog's safety.
Exercise requirements vary based on breed, age, energy level, and health status. Most clients schedule a weekly session on the same day and time each week for convenience and that is fine for most dogs. However, some high energy breeds will benefit from more frequent sessions. Please allow 24-48 hours rest time between slat mill sessions to allow your dog's muscles to recover and prevent joint strain.
Absolutely! We offer discounted rates for additional dogs. Two dogs can run together at the same time, but if you have more than 2 dogs, that is no problem. We can accommodate up to 4 dog's in a 1 hour session. Please choose the appropriate option when booking your appointment so that we can schedule appropriately. We do ask that any dogs that run together be from the same household and get along well.
For your dog's first appointment, we require that you be present. Your presence helps your dog feel more comfortable as they meet their K9 Fitness coach, become familiar with our mobile gym, and are introduced to the slat mill for the first time. This initial visit is focused on building trust, confidence, and creating a positive experience. After the first session, you are not required to remain during your dog's workout. Many clients choose to use that time to run errands, work from home, or simply enjoy a little extra free time while we take care of their dog's exercise. You're always welcome to stay and watch your dog's session if you'd like. Whether you choose to stay or go, you can rest assured that your dog will receive personalized attention, positive reinforcement, and a safe, professionally supervised workout every visit.
You'll receive an email reminder the day before your appointment to confirm your session. Please understand that due to traffic or unforeseen circumstances, we may arrive a little earlier or later than your scheduled appointment time. We will text you with an estimated time of arrival once we are on our way.To help ensure your dog has the best possible experience, please avoid feeding them for at least one hour before their scheduled session. Before we arrive, please take your dog out for a potty break. When we arrive, we'll meet you at your door and are happy to assist in escorting your dog(s) to the mobile gym if needed. You are welcome to join us in the van for your dog's workout. After-all, watching dogs have a great time is therapeutic!
Our mission is to provide your dog with a safe, engaging, and personalized workout experience tailored to their individual needs, fitness level, and personality. Every session is closely supervised by our K9 Fitness coach, who encourages your dog to move at their own comfortable pace—whether that's walking, jogging, or sprinting.Safety always comes first. Even when a dog is eager to keep going, we schedule regular breaks to monitor their condition, allow them to recover, and ensure they remain comfortable and healthy throughout the session. Our specialized slat mills are completely non-motorized, which means your dog controls both the pace and intensity of the workout. Nothing is forced, and every session is designed to be a positive experience built on encouragement, trust, and fun.We use positive reinforcement techniques such as praise, enthusiasm, treats, toys, and plenty of affection to help keep your dog engaged and motivated. We only use 100% pure beef lung treats. Please let us know if your dog has any food sensitivities, allergies or specific dietary requirements.Owners are always welcome to stay and watch their dog's session—we think you'll enjoy seeing your best friend having so much fun. Of course, if you'd prefer, you can leave your dog in our care while you tackle your to-do list, relax after a long day, or simply enjoy a little quiet time at home.
After their workout, it's completely normal for your dog to spend some time resting, panting, or stretching out as they recover from their session. To avoid bloat, please allow at least 30 minutes before allowing them to eat a large meal. It is OK to allow your dog to have small amounts of water (about 1/4 of a bowl) immediately after their session, but please wait until their heart rate and breathing have returned to normal (10-15 minutes) before allowing them to drink as much as they'd like. Some dogs may have a case of the zoomies after exercise. This is a natural response as their body releases endorphins and adrenaline during physical activity. Once they've had an opportunity to relax and recover, this extra energy typically subsides and they will be ready for a good nap.For senior dogs or dogs who are new to structured exercise, a gentle massage of the hind legs after their session can help promote recovery and may reduce muscle soreness the following day.
Dogs must be at least 4 months of age and up-to-date on all vaccinations. Always get approval from a veterinarian prior to intense physical activity. Please let us know if you have any health or safety concerns or if your dog has special needs. Please do not feed your dog less than 1 hour before their workout.
